Preparing for an arbitration hearing

Make the timeline easy to follow and the requested remedy precise.

What to do, in order

  1. Read the current rules, manufacturer summary and notice of hearing. Confirm submission deadlines, permissible remedies, evidence sharing and hearing format.
  2. Create a one-page chronology and numbered evidence index. Tie each concern to repair attempts, persistence and effect on use, safety or value.
  3. Prepare a concise explanation based on personal observations. Disclose contrary facts and clarify disputed records rather than ignoring them.
  4. Ask about document corrections, witnesses, vehicle inspection and accommodations in advance. Follow the program instructions rather than this guide’s general suggestions.
  5. Read the written decision and acceptance terms carefully. Seek advice about its effect before accepting a settlement or award.

What you can say

“My request is [remedy]. The record shows [specific history]. Here are the numbered documents supporting each unresolved concern.”

What to watch for

Do not introduce fabricated expert conclusions. General inconvenience may not be an available remedy under the applicable program.

Your next step

Export your case summary and request the assigned rules.

These steps are suggested consumer practices. Follow case-specific instructions, state requirements and your attorney’s advice when they apply.
