A loaner is denied, unsuitable, or taken away

Get the authorization and return terms before costs accumulate.

What to do, in order

  1. Read the warranty and loaner agreement. Ask what transportation benefit applies, availability, mileage limits, fuel/charging, insurance, deposit and return deadline.
  2. Explain concrete requirements such as seating, accessibility or essential travel. Request a suitable alternative or a written rental authorization.
  3. If a rental is offered, obtain the daily cap, tax/fee coverage, covered dates and reimbursement procedure before committing.
  4. Keep receipts and the timeline. A loaner may affect legal day counts in some states; Texas expressly excludes some comparable-loaner days in its 30-day test.

What you can say

“Please confirm the transportation coverage, return date, and written approval for any rental expenses while my vehicle is awaiting repair.”

What to watch for

Do not assume a luxury badge guarantees a matching loaner or reimbursement of every rental bill.

Your next step

Review your warranty and the transportation template.

These steps are suggested consumer practices. Follow case-specific instructions, state requirements and your attorney’s advice when they apply.
